Why won't the DMV answer the phone?
Could you try to find out why the DMV... never answers the phone? I have been trying to call since 9 a.m. and it’s now 2 p.m. The phone is constantly busy. I also called the (Virginia) State Police number ... and they told me the 1-866-368-5463 number was the only number they (DMV) had. Hope you can help me. Violet Brewer Bristol Virginia The local Department of Motor Vehicles doesn’t have a telephone to take calls – the number you dialed rings a call center in central Virginia. "The 74 customer centers across the state do not have public phones because the people there are helping live customers," said Melanie Stokes, a DMV spokeswoman. "We are trying to streamline the process." Streamline as in using the call centers and directing customers to their Web site – www.dmvnow.com.
Isaac Tigrett responds to 'Brass Note' ceremony
Isaac Tigrett, a founder of the Hard Rock Café and House of Blues franchises, has sent a letter to The Commercial Appeal in response to a story published on Friday, Feb. 22 (“Tigrett Family Honored on Beale Street"), about the Tigrett family receiving a “Brass Note" plaque on Beale Street. The ceremony and honor recognized Isaac Tigrett, his father the late Memphis businessman John Burton Tigrett, his step-mother Pat Kerr Tigrett and his half-brother Kerr Tigrett. Isaac Tigrett, a Jackson, Tenn., native, and world renowned entrepreneur and music supporter, is chiefly upset that his name, and that of his father, was used in the ceremony without his prior knowledge and approval. .
